The journey

POSTPARTUM

The Time of Arriving

You have given birth. Your baby is here. And slowly, you begin to take in what has actually happened.

Postpartum is a special time between what was and what is becoming – a time of falling in love and of landing. Your body is healing, your baby is arriving on Earth – and you, too, are finding your way into your new role as a mother.

A time to rest, to nourish, to receive, to get to know each other and to connect. A time when the rhythms of your home may change completely and you can surrender to what truly matters: holding and being held.

BODY & HEALING

Your body has given birth. Now it is time to receive, heal and recover.

Not only your body, but also your soul and your emotional and mental world need time and space to arrive, to process what has happened and to regain their strength.

ARRIVING AS A MOTHER

You are allowed to grow into your new role as a mother.

With the birth of your baby comes a new way of nourishing and holding. You are still in a place of giving – and precisely because of this, it is so important that you, too, are cared for, nourished and held.

You do not have to do everything on your own. You can devote yourself to your baby while also making space for yourself – allowing yourself to receive, to rest and to be cared for.

CUARENTENA

Forty days for the mother.

In Mexico, the Cuarentena – the first forty days after birth – carries a deep tradition. The mother is protected, nourished, cared for and held by her community while she herself nourishes and holds her baby.

Everyone helps. The woman is given the time and space to heal, to arrive in this new chapter and to slowly grow into her new role as a mother.

This idea of “Mothering the Mother” – nourishing and caring for the mother – touches me deeply: Who cares for the mother while the mother cares for her baby?

FAMILY

A couple becomes a family.

With the birth of a baby, a new chapter also begins for your partnership and your family. Love, exhaustion, overwhelm, closeness and new responsibilities can all exist side by side.

Partners and fathers also need space to arrive in this new chapter, to find their place and to develop their own relationship with their baby.

LIVING POSTPARTUM CONSCIOUSLY

For me, postpartum is one of the most precious and, at the same time, most overlooked and least cared-for times around birth. Not only is a baby born – a mother and a father also need time, space and care to arrive in this new chapter.

Just as every birth is unique, so is every postpartum journey. Maybe you need rest. Maybe support. Maybe someone to listen. Maybe simply a protected space where everything is allowed to be.

CLOSING THE CUARENTENA

In Mexico, the Cuarentena has traditionally been closed with a special ceremony: the Cerrada Postparto. A conscious moment to honour, give thanks and symbolically close the body of the new mother. An intimate space to honour the woman who has given life, to support her in integrating what she has lived through and to restore her energy as she slowly returns to everyday life – now with her baby in her arms.

There is something deeply beautiful in this for me: a transition does not simply have to happen and, at some point, be left behind. It can be consciously lived, held and honoured. Perhaps this is also one of the gifts of a rite of passage – giving us the opportunity to recognise what we have lived through and make space for what is now beginning.

Perhaps postpartum can also be a time when you not only get to know your baby, but also the woman you have become – the woman who was born alongside your baby.

Contact

Perhaps now is the time to get to know each other.

You don’t need to know yet which service is right for you. We can meet, talk about your questions and explore what might support you at this moment.
